The Finnish Government offers scholarships to Australians for postgraduate studies, research and teaching for 3-9 months at a higher education institution or public research institute in Finland. Please note that Masters' courses are not considered as postgraduate studies in Finland. These scholarships are meant for postgraduate studies or research and that priority will be given to doctoral studies.

Scholars, postgraduate students, researchers and artists are being offered a number of awards under the Foreigners’ Fellowships Programme to study in Greece. The program also includes a number of awards for Primary and Secondary teachers of the Greek language. The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Canberra advises that several universities in Saudi Arabia offer places for Australian students to undertake Arabic language studies. The Embassy is seeking nominations for these scholarships.
The scholarship opportunities include:
- King Abdul Aziz University, Jeddah has offered two places for Australian students to undertake studies in the Arabic Language Department, as well as offering to receive a number of other students to study the Arabic language for one semester, or to undertake other Arabic language courses of study;
- King Saud University, Riyadh has already assigned one scholarship for the study of the Arabic language;
- Umm Al-Qura University, Mecca has made available two scholarships for the study of the Arabic language (please note that by virtue of its location, students enrolled at this University must be Muslims); and
- Imam Mohammad bin Saud University, Riyadh has made available five scholarships for the study of the Arabic language by Australian students in a course extending over a two year period.

The Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Turkey will provide higher education scholarships and Turkish language and culture summer course scholarships to Australian students.

The Stanford Humanities Centre (SHC)
and the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI)
will jointly award two international studies fellowships for junior or senior scholars who are not US nationals.
The proposals by applicants should focus on the themes of international studies compatible with the mission of one of the research centres:
- The Walter H Shorenstein Asia/Pacific Research Centre (Shorenstein APARC);
- Centre on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law (CDDRL);
- Centre for Health Policy (CHP/PCOR);
- Centre for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC); or
- The Forum on Contemporary Europe (FCE).
Eligible areas include, but are not limited to: history, philosophy, languages, linguistics, archaeology, ethics, comparative religion, and the history and criticism of the arts. Proposals are welcome from the social sciences employing historical or philosophical approaches, such as social and cultural anthropology, sociology, political theory and other subjects concerned with questions of value. Fellows are awarded stipends of up to $60,000 (USD) and a housing and moving allowance of up to $15,000 (USD), dependent upon need. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) promotes relations between German and Higher Education institutions abroad, through student exchange, academics and scientists. DAAD is Germany's largest scholarship-awarding organisation and runs several programs with academic exchange between Germany and all parts of the world are supported.
The scholarships offered by DAAD are awarded to advanced students, higher education graduates and academics from fields of science, humanities, music and art. These programs range from short-term exchanges for research or teaching through to doctoral scholarships lasting several years.

The United Kingdom has recently announced its intention to terminate support for Commonwealth Scholarships for citizens of eight countries, including Australia. In view of this, it is unlikely that any further calls for applications will be invited under the program for the foreseeable future. Scholars who commenced in 2008 will not be effected.

Program Objectives
- To develop a group of Australian graduates with good understanding of Korean society, politics, economy, culture and the bilateral relationship.
- To increase Australia’s capacity to engage with Korea and to strengthen Australia-Korea relations through people-to-people and institutional linkages.
Target Groups
The program will provide individual scholarships up to $25,000 targeted at the following three groups:
- Australian graduates pursuing a career in an Australia-Korea related profession and developing networks in Korea for their future careers.
- Australian graduates or honours students who are undertaking research in a field of study important to the Australia-Korea relationship.
- Australian graduates or later year undergraduates who have studied Korean to further their language skills and cultural understanding through experiencing Korea first hand.

Eligibility:
The Australia-Korea Foundation Scholarship is open to all Australian citizens who:
- are currently enrolled or recent graduates of an Australian tertiary institution
- are able to supply two referee reports, one of which must comment on the applicant's academic achievement. Further comment may be sought from referees.
Selection Process:

Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will be assessed on the following selection criteria:
- the strength of the proposed research, study or internship program
- demonstrated interest in and understanding of Korea and Korean culture or an interest in increasing this knowledge
