Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations
The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) was created on 3 December 2007, bringing together elements of the former Departments of Education, Science and Training, Employment and Workplace Relations and the Youth and Early Childhood functions from the Department of Family, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.
The department implements government policies and programs to provide education and training opportunities for all Australians, to increase employment participation and to ensure fair and productive workplaces. Education, training and workforce participation are central to our goal of building a productive and socially inclusive nation, one which values diversity and provides opportunities for all Australians to build rewarding social and economic lives.
Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is the lead agency managing Australia's international presence, including maintaining Australia’s diplomatic missions. The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) provides information on Australian government requirements for overseas students and professionals to study and work in Australia. Information about student visas is available at http://www.immi.gov.au/students/index.htm

Australian Education International
AEI is part of the Australian Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR). AEI uniquely integrates the development of international government relations with support for the commercial activities of Australia’s education community. To do this, AEI liaises with all sectors of the education and training industry and all levels of government.
