The aims of the Prime Minister's Australia Asia Endeavour Awards are to build the relationship between Australia and Asia through:
- the development of internationally-aware, skilled future leaders;
- building human capital within organisations and contributing to productivity gains and innovations; and
- the establishment of enduring education and professional linkages.
Successful applicants must take up their Awards between 15 January and 30 November 2010
Forty scholarships will be awarded annually to Australian university students, twenty at undergraduate level and twenty at postgraduate level.
Ten scholarships will also be awarded to the top international Endeavour Awards scholars from Asia each year.
Prime Minister’s Australia Asia Endeavour Postgraduate Awards (Australian applicants)
- Valued at up to $63,500 each.
- 20 Awards annually
- Outgoing Australian postgraduate scholars will be funded to study for up to one year of their Award (PhD or Masters) in Asia.
- Successful candidates will be encouraged to undertake a work placement or internship at the end of their study, for up to 12 months (minimum of two months).
- Award benefits include a travel allowance, establishment allowance, tuition/Award allocation, living allowance, internship allocation, provision of travel and health insurance and ongoing pastoral care.
Prime Minister’s Australia Asia Endeavour Undergraduate Awards (Australian applicants)
- Valued at up to $41,500 each.
- 20 Awards annually.
- Outgoing Australian undergraduate scholars will be funded for up to one year study at a university in Asia. A work placement or internship opportunity of up to one year offshore will also be provided.
- Award benefits include a travel allowance, establishment allowance, tuition/Award allocation, living allowance, internship allocation, provision of travel and health insurance and ongoing pastoral care.
Prime Minister’s Australia Asia Endeavour Postgraduate Awards (international applicants)
- Ten Awards annually worth an additional $10,000 per year on top of funding for the Endeavour Postgraduate Award.
- The top ten incoming PhD recipients of Endeavour Postgraduate Awards will be awarded the Prime Minister’s Australia Asia Endeavour Postgraduate Award.
- Successful candidates will be chosen based on merit from priority countries
- Successful candidates will be encouraged to undertake a work placement or internship at the end of their study, for up to 12 months (minimum of two months).
Priority Destinations
The priority home and host destinations for these Awards are: China (including Hong Kong, and Macau SARs), India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Republic of Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
Awards for Australian undergraduates and postgraduates

Applicants may submit their applications to the nominated contact officer within their Australian university. From these applications, each university will nominate and rank up to five (5) postgraduates and up to five (5) undergraduates. |

Australian universities forward their nominated students’ applications and their rankings to DEEWR by closing date. |

Applications assessed by independent selection panel. |

Outcome of the selection process announced and Award Holders will be informed. |

The eligibility requirements and the application process for the Prime Minister’s Australia Asia Endeavour Postgraduate Awards are the same as for the 2010 Endeavour Postgraduate Awards. Applicants should complete the online application form for the 2010 Endeavour Postgraduate Awards.
Applicants do not have to acknowledge that they want to be considered for a Prime Minister’s Australia Asia Endeavour Postgraduate Award, as all international applicants for the 2010 Endeavour Postgraduate Awards will automatically be considered for a Prime Minister’s Australia Asia Endeavour Postgraduate Award. The top ten (10) applicants from the Endeavour Postgraduate Awards (doctorate only) will be offered the Award and its additional benefits.
